Country Time

A STORY OF GOOD OLD-FASHIONED TASTE

The first Country Time Lemonade Drink Mix was introduced in 1975 by Kraft Foods as a powder mix. It was first marketed through television ads using a character named “Grandpa,” “a judge of good old-fashioned taste.” Country Time Drink Mix has become one of the top-selling lemonade product sold through grocery, mass merchandiser and convenience stores.

In 1981, Kraft Foods issued a license to A&W Beverages, Inc. to market and produce ready-to-drink Country Time in bottles and cans. The first Country Time Lemonade Flavor Drink hit the market in 1982 in 12-ounce cans and 1-liter bottles.

Cadbury Beverages, Inc. acquired A&W Brands, Inc., including Country Time, in 1993. Today, the license is part of Plano, Texas-based Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc., an integrated refreshment beverage business marketing more than 50 beverage brands throughout North America.

In 1995, Country Time Pink Lemonade Flavor Drink was added to the lineup in several markets.

In early 2003, Country Time expanded its portfolio to include Country Time Iced Tea with Lemon, a classic summer beverage with a lemon twist that makes it an ideal match for the Country Time brand.

A new flavor introduction for Country Time occurred in May 2004 with Country Time Strawberry Lemonade. It’s the perfect blend of two favorite flavors: sweet, sun-ripened strawberries and the classic taste of lemonade.

In March 2005, as more and more Americans searched for alternatives to sugar, the brand added Country Time Light Lemonade to its repetoire. With only five calories, zero carbs and a healthy dose of vitamin C, Country Time Light delivers both good health and good taste.

What’s in a name?
