Stewart's
A SUPER-PREMIUM HISTORY
In 1924, Frank Stewart set out to develop the world's best-tasting root beer, which he intended to sell in order to supplement his income as a schoolteacher. With secret recipes in hand, he soon opened his first Stewart's Drive-In, where he served ice-cold Stewart's Root Beer in tall, frosty mugs. The creamy taste of Stewart's Root Beer was an instant success and has been enjoyed by consumers for more than 80 years.
For the first 66 years, Stewart's Root Beer was only available at Stewart's root beer stands and later, at Stewart's Drive-Ins. In 1990, Cable Car Beverage Corporation acquired the bottling rights for Stewart's and began selling Stewart's Root Beer in 12-oz. amber glass bottles.
Since then, Stewart’s has continued to grow, with an ever-growing line up of old-fashioned soda fountain flavors. In 1992, Stewart's Cream Soda and Ginger Beer were introduced. These were followed in 1995 with Stewart’s Country Orange n’ Cream, a "creamsicle" in a bottle that helped define Stewart’s as the leader in flavor innovation for the super-premium, gourmet soda category.
In the fall of 1998, Stewart's Classic Grape Soda entered the market. Stewart's Grape is made with a secret ingredient that gives it a grape flavor unlike any other soft drink. In 1999, Stewart's did it again when it introduced the first super-premium gourmet peach soda. It tastes so good, you can almost taste the peach fuzz.
In November of 2000, Stewart's was sold along with Royal Crown and Snapple Brands to Cadbury Schweppes. Stewart’s flavors include Root Beer, Diet Root Beer, Orange 'n Cream, Diet Orange 'n Cream, Cream Soda, Ginger Beer, Key Lime, Cherries 'n Cream, Grape Soda, Peach Soda, Birch Beer and Wishniak Black Cherry.
Today, Stewart’s is part of Plano, Texas-based Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc., an integrated refreshment beverage business marketing more than 50 beverage brands throughout North America.
