The leadership of Teamsters Local 727 has decided to take approximately 185 of our employees on an economic strike beginning Tuesday, May 22. The employees include delivery and transport drivers operating out of our two Chicago-area facilities in Northlake and Hazel Crest, Ill. 

We are disappointed by the union leadership’s decision. Throughout our negotiations, which have included 15 negotiating sessions since March 14, we have dealt with the union in good faith and treated our employees with the utmost respect at every stage.

Our last, best and final offer was submitted on Friday, May 18, and included increases that were higher than those in previous contracts. It included generous increases to wages and retirement benefits, as well as the continuation of affordable healthcare premiums.

We have also invested substantially in the health and well-being of our local employees. In the past year, we opened a state-of-the-art health clinic at our Northlake facility, providing convenient access to high quality, affordable, on-site health care.

A strike is good for no one – not our employees, their families, our customers, our business or our community. We are committed to continue bargaining with the union in good faith in an attempt to resolve our differences at the table, and we hope the union will do likewise. The door is open for them.

In the meantime, we are implementing strike contingency plans to ensure continued service to our valued customers.
